Turns out I was fighting a lost battle with fever for half the trip.

All the Paracetmol could only temporarily relieve me from the fever before the next episode strikes in another 4 hours or so.

The legs were already aching badly from the hiking trip and the chills made things worse. I could not walk properly let alone had extreme difficulty climbing the stairs in the subway.

Came back and was warded to A&E the next day cos fever came up to 40deg and slightly dehydrated..

Diagnosed with UTI and doctor told me if my back hurts, likely the kidneys would be affected. I had some soreness in the back and it made me worried mad.

Thank god the antibiotics given work wonders and the fever gradually subsided. My face colour came back (I had purple lips and pale face).

Learnt my lesson never to withhold the urge to pee the hard way cos UTI can strike again.

I’m so glad BB was beside me to comfort and care for me.

Work has it that I have to be transferred back to HQ (like it or not). I was told the arrangement will be on trial for a month.
Normally upon hearing this, one would figured out just bear with the one month and everything will be back to normal. Before this announcement, much hype was created for people who supported the change and more hype was created by people who opposed the change in particular, being affected by it. (ahem) Fiery words were exchanged, emails flew all over..the verdict? A trial was proposed instead of full implementation.

But some nagging feeling about this trial is going to drag on.

HB and I have discussed over this many a times but each time I brought it up, I feel uneasy about the upcoming change. The uncertainty (before mgt decided to do a trial instead) was horrible. There was no mood, dragged myself to work..super low morale..then as time got by, no news meant good news right? Wrong.. terribly wrong.

I filed in a request for transfer but I got (another) nagging feeling it was put on hold or held back without my knowledge (at least the people from the Pro camp should have courtesy to inform me personally right???)

The reason for requesting a transfer was I rather I be in charge of the change that affects me directly, than let someone else be spearhead. Even if I made the wrong choice of transfer, I can blame myself, not someone else right?

I’m missing the days that will be spent with my current team, the lunch time jokes, the little conversations..*sigh*.

I got a call from HQ requesting for a meetup later this week. Good news is I am on leave, bad news is, it’s going to be a nagging reminder at the back of my mind..and when I return, I will barely have time to bade my farewell.

There used to be a very popular show that feature interesting hideouts in Singapore. The serial was successful and had several runs until one of the anchor hosts decided to quit showbiz (at her prime) to resume studies.
The show title was “城人杂志”

The HB automatically translate literally word for word as a.d.u.l.t.m.a.g.a.z.i.n.e. =.=!!

I would love to present the HB a bowl of nice soup after a hard day’s work..

Next in line,…i’m eyeing a sewing machine..muahahhaa..

1) They can stay in the same job/company for like 10+, 20+ years?
(okay, maybe in the early years, economic situation wasn’t so good, job hopping was never heard of..just how did they put up with all the **** work??)

2) They tend to see the brighter side of things… demanding counterparts/bosses, they just brush it off their shoulders
(perhaps for all their years in the organization, they seen all kinds of cases/people..basically, nothing is new to them?)

3) They are treasure troves with all their wealth of experience
(speaking of which, I’ve always wondered, how we ever going to cope without their knowledge? Where is the succession plan???)

I love hearing them relate their experiences and lunch sessions with them are things I always look forward to.

I’m going to miss this bunch of people

By Thursday, had to trot down to the polyclinic to see Doc.

Cos weather turned cold, hives came back..

Gotten 1 day MC

Woke up with 6 insect-like bite wounds, which started off as 50-cent size bumps and swelled to angry red patches that radiated heat.

Back to work on Fri, somewhat in a daze..

Weekend spent trying to curb the itch.

Hives strike back on Monday morning, thank God I brought anti-hisamines along if not…fast relieve by anti-hisamines.. and the swelling went down.

Now nursing the cough..clearing the phlegm out of my system.

mild fever as well.

1) The attractiveness of killer heels..they hurt the feet a lot..A LOT.. yet, people can strut in them with ease.

2) The money invested in make-up and better still, make-up removers. Precisely one spends so much money to apply all the make-up, one has to spend equally, if not more to remove them.

Having said that, I still enjoy admiring people who took the effort to dress up.. ( I also secretly wished I knew the art of dressing up and applying make-up…)

Bouts of cough will persist for weeks. It happened 2 yrs ago..and it happened now.

Last year, managed to stay cough-free but had food poisoning..so still considered sick.

Totally amusing myself with the lack of voice at the moment..

As usual, using the queue monitor to check the status of the queue at the polyclinic..wth? 54 pax in the consultation queue and waiting time is 15min? While at registration, it’s 0 min, 0 queue, same for pharmacy..so it goes to show…doctors are late!

The sore throat symptom started showing on 9th after one of the OB bought some Royce’ chocs to office to share (OMG!..Royce’ is realllyyy good….another post about it) the day before during night shift..

Quite embarrassingly, I was the one who ate most of it..was realllyyyyy goood. (I guess quality chocolates, come at quality price..)

AM Shift: 10th… the persistent cough came..kept drinking water..but didn’t really help. Voice changed a little..

PM Shift: 11th…voice became a tone lower..

Off: 12th..got the chills..eyes watery, nose dripping…fever sets in..phlegm formed..but sore throat healed. (took paracetamol, cough mixture and chlorophenamine..a potent combi that knock me off the entire day..good for catching up sleep)

AM Shift: 13th…fever gone by morning..was perfectly fine..until it was nearly knock off for shift when the runny noes, watery eyes, sneezing started showing up again..

So..deliberating if doc will give MC and I can get away with the night shift..but today’s a big day..but by night time, things should have settled..should be quite ‘safe’ to take MC? I don’t know.. but I doubt I can answer any calls in my current state..

14th..voice gone..head still feels mildly feverish..lots of phlegm to cough out in e morning.

The thing I hate about my sickness..is..it only flares up when I’m not working.. or going to knock off.. doesn’t show the next morning when it’s time to report for work..

I recalled when I was young, I lost my voice easily from wailing (I used to cry a lot when younger..and I wail a lot too..ahah)..

My body is so weak… maybe it’s really time to turn to TCM..hm…

So if I wish to be heard, i literally have to whisper.. irony..

So let’s see how long i’ll take to recover…
